The by-election follows the death of former Kalangala District Woman MP Helen Nakimuli, who passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Alexandra Medical Centre in Kitante, Kampala. The programme began with a stakeholders’ meeting and press briefing on May 8, 2026, followed by the update of the National Voters’ Register at parish level running from May 11 to May 13, 2026.

The same period also covers voter registration, transfers within Kalangala District, and recruitment of officials responsible for displaying the voters’ register.

According to the Electoral Commission timetable, the display of recruited officials’ lists will run from May 15 to May 20, 2026, while training of display officers and issuance of appointment letters is scheduled for May 19, 2026.

The display of the voters’ register at polling stations will take place from May 20 to May 29, 2026, followed by parish tribunal hearings on inclusions and deletions from May 29 to June 4, 2026.

Nomination of candidates is set for June 10 and June 11, 2026, at Kalangala District Headquarters, while official campaigns will run from June 12 to June 22, 2026.

Polling and tallying of results for the by-election will be conducted on June 24, 2026.
